san diego (ap) the jehovah's witnesses were ordered to pay $13.5 million to a southern california man who said he was molested as a child by a church member.. a san diego judge ruled wednesday that the church's governing body covered up years of sexual abuse by a member who later became an elder.. superior judge joan lewis said actions of the watchtower bible and tract society of new york were "reprehensible and reckless," u-t san diego reported friday (http://bit.ly/1uf519r ).. jose lopez, who was awarded the money, sued the group, alleging that he was molested in 1986 at age 7 by a member of the spanish congregation in the linda vista area of san diego.. lopez said the elders suggested gonzalo campos as his bible teacher even though they knew he had molested at least one other boy, the suit contended.

That AP article packs quite a punch in a very small article. I have to think that someone (a typical clueless JW) reading that article who knew nothing about all of these cases would be truly shocked. They would probably be in disbelief. But if they have a critically thinking or curious bone in their body they would look into it further.

by purrpurr ini probably havnt spelt that right but anyway the other week a bro at my hall answered up saying that he had done research into the lives of these "rock and roll" stars and that he had discovered that they all belonged to a demon controled, satan worshipping secret cult called the illuminarte!
therefore we must steer clear of popular music because of the secrect demonic lyrics that it contains!!.
of course everyone nodded in agreement and the study conductor thanked him for his "fine" comment!.

In actuality, KISS is just a horrible rock n roll band and an annoying bunch of over-inflated egos. Their music SUCKS!!!! But I digress.
I remember the other "Satanic" rock band was AC/DC. If these idiot JW's had any sense at all they would know that the members of AC/DC are country boys from Australia who are nerds and introverts and are truly harmless rock n roll geniuses!!

Terribly tragic.
I have JW relatives and JW friends who will hear or read about this accident and feel very bad for the victims. Then they will mention something about the resurrection and paradise, and that will be the end of it. They will not examine any further in their own minds how this could be possible that these brothers and sisters on the bus prayed just the same as everyone else did this morning for blessings and guidance and protection..... only to be killed or maimed in a bus accident hours later.
AND YET!!!!!!!!! My same JW relatives and JW friends will, either later today or sometime in the next day or so, make some claim of a "blessing" in their own mundane life that God allegedly gave to them. It could be practically anything and they will count it as a "blessing" and they will feel special. And THAT, my friends, makes me sick to my stomach.
But, whenever I bring up this strange thinking and expose it for the sheer stupidity that it is....... I am looked at as the strange one?

I am abhor the practice of beating/whipping a child. I knew many that did it when I was growing up and some that still do. I am not against the very rare swat on the backside of a young child that is throwing a fit or behaving really badly (hurting another child, throwing objects, screaming tantrum, etc). This is only to get their quick attention and is done with an open hand and not done any harder than you would if you were playing or roughhousing with your child. Never to inflict pain or harm. I am a firm believer that using any sort of implement to strike your child should be grounds for criminal prosecution. No belts. No switches, No paddles. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
But if we observe other species of animals (mostly large mammals) that have similar social structures as humans (apes, monkeys, big cats, canines, elephants, even cetaceans and pinnipeds) and observe the behavior of parent animals disciplining and correcting their youngsters we will see that animals often have to show some sort of force and dominance over their young to train them in the expected social manners of the family unit or pack or herd, whatever. This discipline and dominance is NOT done with any malice or true anger by the animals. It is done in a way that gets the attention of the youngster but without harming them or scarring them emotionally and breaking their spirit.
Sadly, I have seen many JW children with broken spirits because their awful parents used "the rod" scripture as an excuse to have open season on their children. It is disgusting and shows the lack of love and lack of intelligence these parents have. What I know for sure, those parents get paid back tenfold for their abusiveness by their children one day.

So, so, so embarrassing. It makes me so uncomfortable to think about "worldly people" who have known JW's for years and years and, although not having any interest in JW-ness, had a certain level of respect for JW's as being serious bible students. But with this JW.org trinket nonsense......... I am mortified at what those people think of "us" (them).
